I wouldn't mind putting her back as long as the hen will take her back and not kick her out again. Her litter mates are 3-4 days older and I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. And since she just hatched I'm not sure to try and give her a drink of sugar water or not?

its a sticky chick

I thought she cleaned it up? Looks like it should fluff up, nothing encrusted down.

I'm out y'all. sweetest of dreams!

:frow

York, do you think she should try to put the chick back under the broody?

I would try yes and keep watch to see what the hen does with it.

Try adding her back at night, the hen will be quiet then. If the others are older had she abandoned this egg and taken the others off the nest to feed and drink?

If the other chicks are older, that may be a problem until she is stronger. It's a risk, but your life will be easier if she accepts it and it's strong enough in the morning. The hen will probably have the other chicks up for food and water if they are 4 days old. Hope the new one can keep up. Are you west coast? Will the chick have all night under the hen to rest?

I'm in Texas :) I just put her back under the hen and keeping my fingers crossed the hen will keep her and that she will get rest and be stronger in the day light. It's 1am here

Well now, you know we will be looking for an update in the morning! Hope everything works out.

I promise I'm not one to interrupt a perfectly fine relationship between mommy and baby animals. Thanks to all that have listened to me and gave advise.
