You're welcome. The horizontal ones are spring loaded and they are what I currently use.

I want to switch to horizontal but don't want to spend money.

I have one vertical nipple in the bottom of a coke bottle that I use for day-old babies. Kiki be sure there's venting or it won't work. On the bottle I just leave the lid off.

I've seen decent prices. But I already have the vertical ones. No sense doubling up, yet. I inherited lots of gravity waterers, too.

I just use empty gallon ice cream buckets for my birds...
