stupid, stupid song stuck in my head. they say if you sing them out loud that will get rid of it. i tried all it got rid of was my husband, and the dogs. they left too. i responded to a few unanswered posts here this evening. havent done that in a long time. felt good. my daughter is very ill. her crones is bad. they started the scope and it wouldnt pass through because her intestines are so narrow. that means surgery for her. I told her i was going to cancel mine and come .she lives in N.C. never been there. she does not want me. she insists there is nothing i can do and i have to have mine done. it is not a done deal for her yet but it will be her 2nd one. she has 6 babies, all boys. One more day, One more night, One more sunrise baby ill be satisfied but then again i know what i would do, id be wishing still for one more day with you

oh wow, i missed out on a lot today, i slept all day. lol what a bunch of good looking birds ! they are very nice looking. cant say a favorite . thank you for sharing with us. I also did not know the giants come in some thing other then black or white.your babys legs would be lighter because of who their mama was you do have a lavender there. half silkie? I had one just like it. the shoe mystery !!! only the dog knows. lol

Thank you. I am not sure who their mama is, I have 2 white EE hens and one that is shades of brown. I have a red star hen, a black hen and did have a BO when those eggs were laid. The other white hen I have is a Cornish cross and these babies are too delicately built to be hers. The little one next to Sam is white also and old enough to show blue ear lobes now. That crested one is not half Silkie if that is what you were asking. I didn't have any Silkies when he was laid. Sam is just barely old enough to do the job but hasn't figured out the right end of the hen to grab.

Silly Silkie cornered a pullet yesterday and she stuck her head through the fence and couldn't get further away so she hunched down on the ground and Sam didn't know what to do. He kept pecking at her to try to get her to stand up and every time he pecked at her she would squawk real loud. It didn't look like he was pecking her hard but as soon as I could get loose of what I was doing, I went and rescued her.

Granny- please take care of yourself. You have a lot of people and a few chickens counting on you.

Remember the advice they always give on the plane: put your own oxygen mask on before assisting others.

Although I suspect you've spent a noble lifetime taking care of others it truly sounds like you need to take some time to take care of yourself. You'll be back in care giver mode much quicker, and more effectively, if you do.

i know katbriar,
and you have me pegged . i dont think i know how. but she is my daughter. and very hard to comprehend why . she has been through much and i have not been there for her. she always lives so far from me. she moves a lot. both of my children have crones . they have different fathers and i dont have it. bad genes maybe. anyway, i wont be going. i will be knocked out on the table come monday at 11 am. and then i will have no choice but to stay put and rest.

wishin4wings, too bad its not spring and i was ready because that is the roo. i would like to add with the big hens. lol drive him crazy. lol and again, i dont know what one i like better.

If we hatch more out I'm sure there would be a cockerel or three for you to torment with your giant hens! I would gladly send you one (or 3

). Having to get rid of these cockerels is hard on my younger boy, he gets so attached. He's now reluctant to hatch any more, but we'll see! Technically, these are "his" birds for 4-h (hahahaha! ALL the animals are really mine though). So sorry to hear about your daughter's condition. That seems like a miserable disease to have, and I hope she can get some relief. As for the 6 boys, has she gotten a Heroic Mommy Metal yet? I have two boys, one just turned 16 last week and the other will turn 13 next week. I remember being very pregnant, sitting and watching the tv news about the 911 attack, hugging my sweet little 3 yr old toddler. Few days later I had my second son, another sweetie. How old are you grandsons?

Oh, I forgot to say Thank You. LOL I like the looks of most of them myself but there are others that are kind of plain janes. The kind that look like a LOT of chickens. I didn't know what to expect when Elvis bred to the hens. His mate disappeared so at that time I really thought I wanted Crested Polish birds and as time has gone on, but not before I got a 2nd pair, I discovered I would prefer Cochins. I wanted Cochins because they are big and come in a lot of different colors. Then I found out that Brahmas come in more than black/white and grey/white. And then I found out that Jersey Giants are in more colors than black or white. LOL Why couldn't I find all that out at one time?

I'll end up with some Brahmas and will probably get some Jersey Giants when I can find some colors that I like.

I have 2 bantam Cochins that are very friendly and very broody. My husband really likes large birds too. We went to a poultry show a couple of years ago and he was drooling over the Brahmas and JGs and Langshans. Poultry shows are dangerous places. Maybe some day we'll get some, but we'd have to enlarge the doors and nests in the coop which was built to accommodate mid-size hatchery hens. I'm looking into getting some good quality Orpingtons from a breeder who has way too many and is selling pullets cheap. Those will be bigger than most of my layers, but I think most of it is fluff.

I agree about the small birds, small eggs, but found I really like the bantams. You can squeeze a lot in a small space!

This one sure is pretty! I like the medium crests. I feel sorry for some of those Polish that can't see where they're going.

1-2 4-5 8-14 the ages, i will attempt the names. lol oldest to youngest. Kristopher, Konner, Kayden, Keller, Kolten, Keegen. I seriously dont know what is wrong with people and these names !! i cant keep one straight much less a mess like this ! I would love one of your roos when spring comes but i am afraid shipping is outrageous . and i already know from Ca. its over 100 dollars but thank you for the offer. i wouldnt let anyone else pay that either. a woman did that for me with spazz and see what happened to him

i like that one too. thats the one i said i had of course i have had one of a lot . lol i felt sorry for the big crest too. i would give them mohawks and i also would breed rir hens to the polish buff for a med. crest. the results were so-so. the roos were very mean and the hens gentle as could be. you could almost sex them by their attitude.

wishing4wings, poultry swaps are good for more then chickens. its where i picked up the crd/mg at. you can even bring it home on your shoes.
