Wonder of wonders, it is RAINING!!!

9:30pm and there is water falling from the sky!... in September! We all keep going outside to make sure it's real.

Pretty sure this won't end the 3 yr drought, but is certainly welcome. Little town of Weed, CA burned up yesterday. Only has a population of 3000, and over 100 homes were destroyed (no one hurt, thank goodness). There's another active fire in the Sierra foothills that is approaching 30,000 acres. Hoping the rain makes it inland far enough to help put it out.

So glad to hear the the doctor could help you, granny. Untreated bronchitis could have gotten much worse, so going into the office was a really good decision. Rest, rest, rest! I'll try to think up a story story to share later. Right now I'm going out to feel the rain.

We woke up late today. LATE! I think it was because it was so dark outside. It was raining. Not making much noise so it didn't wake us up.

Honestly, we got up at about 115pm. Realized the chickens hadn't been let out and got dressed, ran out let them out, took the caged ones out and covered them with tarp, fed and watered them all. Then we realized that the ones who sleep outside the coop, outside the run, were pacing around outside the fence wanting in to eat.

Dumb birds! They can fly out of the run but refuse to fly back in. So we opened the gate and hubby went out to herd them in. Some were stubborn and we were totally drenched by the time we were done. We decided we might as well clip those flyer's wings while we had them penned up. There were about 7 of them and one that sleeps in the coop decided he wanted out so we had to herd him back into the pen and clip his wing. Then I realized that I had seen some others fly out of the coop who come back in and sleep in the coop so we did more clipping. Got some hens and the guineas while we were at it.

By the time we were done, it was dusk and we decided to go ahead and get them into the coop. They were not happy about that so I have to get up real early tomorrow to let them out. Well, as soon as there is enough daylight to discourage predators. Um, today, it's 1234am. Today the fog rolled up and made it dark enough I was worried about a predator coming up while it was still daylight. 1236pm, so that was yesterday. LOL

i got to sleep about 4 hrs. last night.

Is it cold? A chucks temperature is 40c. If they get cold they will shut down and not eat. Maybe it needs to warm up to get its metabolism going. Then it should eat. If sounds hypothermic.

You are very welcome. I will submit more when I think of them. I am very envious of people who seem to be happy all the time, it seems like I don't see the happy side to life.

Hopefully, you can nap off and on today.

This is Nugget, my bathtub chick. The farm lady up the road gave her to us at two days old. She's been in the bathtub ever since, because I'm afraid the big girls would peck her to death. She goes outside for supervised visits. I'm hoping to pick up a few chicks at the auction next week so we can put them in the flock at the same time. Poor thing, I know she's lonely.

That's the little one I thought was a bantam, but he's (?) as big as the black ones now, so maybe he was due a growth spurt. He's got lovely green eyes.

These are some of the girls I'm trying to sell. They've outgrown their coop and run (11 now) so I'm trying to thin the herd.

This is Evangeline getting ready for the fair. She didn't care much for the bath, but seemed to not mind the blow dryer. When I was done she hopped on the brooder tub and aimed a MASSIVE disgusting poo right at me. She missed. :D
