How far up the beak. Beaks always grow like nails so I would think there is a good chance it will heal.

i had a roo attack another roo, and his tip of the beak broke off. I separated pens, but the older rooster started attacking the dividing fence. couple days later got a hold of that beak AGAIN and ripped off and apart the top beak from the flesh. the top inside fleshy part was torn from the beak, the beak itself had cracked down the center line and the tip was now completely missing leaving the flesh hanging.
the bleeding didn't stop for a good 4-5 hours. Dirt accumulated by his tip of tongue and lower jaw... I tried to seal the crack, and I tried to bandage it to stop the bleeding. neither worked successfully, he was irritated by the pressure of the items.... but dabbing the corn starch on it did slow down the rate of bleed.... he could not eat hard foods anymore. I put him in with the sealed pen of the chicks and had to feed him a paste of chick medicated feed.
Now several months later. the beak is growing back very well. there is still a raw area on the top growing. it wont look as pretty as before but he is healthy and happy, and definitely is not the alpha roo. he is happy guarding the baby chicks instead of the old hens. aww.
I think isolation and some TLC is all he needed. again, bandaging did not work for me. hope this helped.

Quote: You should isolate her in a dark quiet spot until the bleeding stops. We have had caged birds that get scared and smash and crack their beaks. Quiet, warm, and dark is what the avian vet told us to stave of shock and stop bleeding. Of course with little parakeets, a few drops of blood is half their total, so you have to get it stopped quick. The beak should heal fine.
