The young honas squabbled a good bit a few weeks ago, but they've all settled in now. The honas are 7 months old or so. Everyone else is much younger. The tractor babies do a little chest bumping, but no real fighting.

My cockerel is starting to peck at some of the cinco de mayo babies. I think they might be male.. They haven't crow yet though.

Granny, I thought my coop and run were predator proof as well. I have 3 chickens left from my original batch because something got in there and went on a killing spree. Last three get to roost in a dog crate while the live bait traps are set.
I believe it might be a skunk as my youngest fur child has been guarding the coop and came up to the house wearing a very fragrant perfume...

It isn't cooling off at night and my EE don't want to go in the coop at night. Too hot. I let them stay out last night but I know they could get eaten. Of course my coop isn't exactly predator proof. I am sure any thing could just rip into the coops if they wanted. I have been lucky. I want to build something more secure if I get any of these Tolbunt to hatch.

I forgot about the now 4 calves also giving the licks a try. We are all leaning towards Granny being in the family way.

hopefully your furry child has been vaccinated for rabies. Skunk aka stripped kitties are notiorous for rabies up here.

I saw something on the way back from the farm today I have never seen there are a couple pea fields newly harvested and they must have been well over 100 hawks in the fields and perched on anything they could plus the air was full of them. I would have taken pics but I was past my curfew. and racing home.
