I want a cow, a pig or two and some goats and a lamb.
And now meat birds too!

CB slept in his bed for the first time last night. Said he had a bed before but he had to share with his brothers so he just slept under the bed. I guess its hard with 5 brothers. He woke with a smile on his face saying he slept good so It was all worth it !

He was telling me that quail and pheasant are not native here but the state pays people to hatch and raise them to be released in the wild. I need to know how I can participate in that!!!
That is fantastic! Perfect for you.

Talking to my dad about property. Its all still a dream. Land is so expensive but now he says he wants me to have pigs on the farm. I know nothing about pig . Lol and who's gonna butcher it cause I know it won't be me.
Someone said already, but there are mobile services. Animal stays much calmer not being taken in for slaughter. We had a couple of cows done when I was a kid. Very fast ad no drama. He winched the carcass in the van and took it for hanging and butchering. We got it back in meal sized paper wrapped packages that filled the freezer.

Maybe your dad will invest in the property with you if he has access to land to raise animals. People and restaurants will pay big bucks for quality meat that is local and raised properly. My sis just bought a dressed rabbit from a coworker. A deal at $10.

Granny just remember " it takes a REAL man to wear Pink "
Especially pink underwear!

i am going for a walk CB on my last nerve right now. BB in a bit.
Of course you are going for a walk because I just caught up!!

Have him check out a book from the school library. It should be open pretty soon. Get him started on Percy Jackson series. Then when you need some quiet time, ask him to go read. When winter comes, you will not be able to escape so easily. Get him trained now. I tell my kids, I love you dearly, but I am old and cranky and need some quiet time! Go away!

better than what I do. I just sit silently and cry in my beer.

Reading is the best gift you can give a child....and once they're old enough to read on their own it's the best gift you can give yourself. Lol I swear, I was only allowed to live by "GO TO YOUR ROOM" and I'd just lose myself in a book.

Wishing a while back I bought a little container of ANNIS HYSSOP.
I just kind of put it some where and forgot about it....
The flowers are drying up....do you know if this is where the seeds are....
i'd like to plant some more and take care of it this time.

I think its in the mint family and should come back next year on its own.

Linda, if I started drinking, I would be lost. Too much of a lightweight and no will power. I will just never start.

Prostar, me too about the books and we didn't go to the library much, but had all the classics. Treasure Island, Tom and Huck, Little Women... so many others. Read them all by 6th grade. Grandpa gave me a huge book that had every Sherlock Holmes story. Read them all more than once!

Kiki, flowers are what makes the seeds, but it depends on if the flowers were pollinated and had time to grow enough to be viable. Crush open a flower and see what you get.

I just googled it.
I think the seeds are in the flower part....I have it in a small pot but want to move it.
hmmm...

Two years ago I started a project to see if I could grow more amaryllis plants from seed that I harvested from the blooms on my plants...
IT worked..
I gave the first years 70 plants to my mom so I have about 50 new ones growing now.

i love to grow things from seeds!

I want to try this anise from seeds.
