I made a raised bed wrong. used 2x8s and filled it up with good dirt , planted tomatoes and the root filled up the good dirt , ran out of room and popped out of the ground. Should of mixed it I guess. Then this year I wanted to try the hay bales and couldnt find any under $5.00 .

I love their site but they have a helper to find out what kind I need and says there is no store within a 50 mile radius of me.

FIL is a tricky label. He married MIL after my hubs was grown, and while he is a good man, my hubs does not think of him as a father. He is grandpa to our kids, though.

Yes, I will tell them happy b-day from you! 15 yrs ago, we were living in the old farmhouse with my sis. #1 son had just turned 3 and I was pregnant with #2, expecting in a little less than 4 weeks. Sis left a note on our bathroom mirror to turn on the news, national catastrophe going on, so I did. Sat on the sofa that morning, teary eyed, watching real life horror on tv, holding #2 inside my very large belly, questioning the wisdom of bringing another innocent soul into such an evil world. In the next few days, I realized that fire fighters and first responders running into the danger was proof that most of the world is indeed not evil, as was the enormous wave of brave young people enlisting to assure that the evil could not hurt us again. Several days later while the country was still reeling, my water broke, 3 weeks early (again!) and #2 arrived in much the same fashion as #1. This time of year, with the boys' birthdays less than 2 weeks apart and 9/11 in between, is always profound for us. Hope and horror, a new century, a new millennium, tied in with the births of my boys. This day is history to them, but to me, it is my history. Can't forget. Bless us all.

yes, It showed the world just how strong we are. Poor thing, that was extra horrible for you but we are the lucky ones. Many were not.
I think you should call him dad. If he has been in your life all these years thats what he is. How can he be to your kids and not you ? DD calls Tom dad. said he is the only one that ever treated her like a DD. It makes him feel so good and really, what does it hurt to bring a little happy to a sick old man ?

Cheapest straw bales in the county were $9.

no way! I am going to get the neighbor to bring over his big pile of horse sh**!

We have gotten a few loader scoops from him before, but I want PILES of it!!

Wishing, when do you have to go ? Will it be an all day thing ?
The men folk are all still asleep! We usually head up late morning and come back after dinner. Drive is only 1 hour 15 mins. In my serama selling frenzy last night, I forgot to call my sis to see if she can come do animal care tonight. If she can't, I will probably stay home. But she usually can, so I will probably be going.

We call him Grandpa John. It is a difficult family dynamic, that I will not go into, except to say that forces beyond our control do her their best to keep the "family" divided into mine and his. Also, the way I was raised, inlaws are called by their first names. Not out of disrespect, as much as tradition. My dad is still alive, and I think he would feel a bit betrayed by me calling another man "dad." I cannot imagine calling anyone else "mom." I had only one. It's kind of sacred.
