The weather here is lovely right now! Warm enough for sleeves in the day time and just a touch of frost at night! It was 80º in SC yesterday........
i think we are 60 and 40s both too cold !! if the sun was shining it would be different

granny, if your EE has a pea comb, she is more likely to lay green or blue eggs. The genes are really close together on the chromosome, and aren't often separated. Not 100% of course. Nothing much is !00% with chickens!

Glad you are feeling better. Don't let your boredom get you into trouble!

I have been thinking about your post about your son a page or so back. I'm still thinking about it, and wish I had something useful to tell you. Thought my eldest was mildly autistic when he was a baby, there were some serious concerns before he was even born. It was a hard time. Things that are easy for most kids were never easy for him (like loud noises and tags in his shirts and socializing). My hubs and I have been coaching him his whole life. Thankfully, he is doing well at 16. Nothing diagnosed, but I still worry about him, maybe a bit more than his younger brother. Guess I'm always going to worry as long as I'm their mom.

wishingforwings, those are the same things that bothered mine. the tags on his shirt had to be cut . his socks gave him much distress. we have found clothes without seams and tags now. thank you Michel Jordan. but it was a real mess . especially in the winter. the noises , oh boy. he would cover his ears and rock. the bird was driving him nuts. what bird? the bird my neighbors owned. i had to go outside to hear it. lol he too is much better today. a history buff. not that he will agree with you. he says he has no interest in history but he can tell you all about it. facts that are from way back. his worker was talking about his progress in talking and i told her nothing had changed , he just liked her. she had that chance to see for herself when that woman came for me and my son refused to even make eye contact with her. my sister told me, dont worry, he wont be 21 and not know how to tie his shoes. well, i dont know if he does or not because we have velcro. there are so many. most have family but not all. what i was hoping for was someone that complemented him and they could live free so to speak. enough, i could go on all day. lol worry yes. as far as the ee i am not even sure about the comb. i know the legs are a greenish/ gray color.

the ee her comb is so small i can barely see it. it is just a couple of bumps. still pink though. I had a fairly good day today. woke up in a lot of pain and by 10 broke down and took a pill. after it eased up some my friend came over and her husband did some winterizing to the coop. i went out with them and showed them the ins and outs of feeding and water for winter. i think every thing is set except the heated water dish. we put the 5 gallon feeder in and filled it in hopes of it lasting a few days without mice or something eating it. it is about 3 inches off the ground. not enough but i have tiny chickens. the sun is what i am lacking. i always seem to feel better after i have some. next trip to the drs. i will ask him to check my d . it was low once before . hope everyone is well. seems pretty quiet lately. maybe i have bored every one .

Sorry granny I just haven't had anything to contribute! I was busy early in the week with building a tractor, first thing I've ever made and did it all by myself. Then I bathed six filthy chickens and put them in. Dealt with some bullying and rearranging of the flock. Last part of the week I worked on identifying my new pullets: mixed color orpingtons. They look like puffy rain (not storm) clouds.

I got three eggs for the first time today. I was getting one RIW egg and one sussex egg most days this week. Today I got two RIW eggs and a sussex egg, but I've got another on a nest right now.

Otherwise it's been quiet. :)
Keep taking it easy, healing, and relaxing. :)

campinshaw !! you built a tractor and you have nothing to say ? come on now. we need pictures !! I just cant take it easy anymore. i am bored to death. if i dont get into something soon i am gonna bust. did you see my coop? i built that with some help from my husband . now i can barely walk to the coop. good thing my walker has a built in seat. lol

I forgot, i didnt put the rubber on the roof. i hired that done. i used a different roofing and it leaked because of part of the roof being flat.

Ok, pictures of my tractor! :D

It needs a little work yet, with roosts in the coop and a better door, but they've been doing really well in it! I've got the water hanging now because the RIWs are FILTHY PIGS. They eat SO much and make a huge mess.

There's the sand in my run, plus my two new orpingtons and the sussex. I just LOVE the sand. It's so clean now! I need another load to top it off, and add more to the coop.

Campingshaws that looks very nice! Good job. Granny, if you're used to being outside a lot, the lack of sunlight can be causing some issues. If at all possible, get outside each day even if it's just on the porch. Just don't overdo!

that is a great job !!! thanks for the pictures. mrsc, yes, my life is spent outside and this house is driving me nuts. i did all the yard work but i didnt really think of it as work. sitting on a riding mower for 6 hrs. was just plain fun.
