Here's some directions for starting lavender. It likes well drained soil. Probably best to wait for spring. Going to try starting some from seed. Rose is called Sutters Gold and came out in 1949 to celebrate the gold rush. I can send you some seeds too if they mature. I rooted some stems to get my own plants off of the old bush, but want to try to grow from seeds. I think that old rose bush was probably planted in 1949. Mine are a little pinker on the outside than in that pic.
