A few years ago I decided I wanted a King Charles cavalier spaniel. Did a lot of research, and called a lot of breeders. At that point all our other pets were male and I was craving a kindred female spirit, but every single breeder tried their darnedest to talk me into a male. So I guess the males were harder for them to place, too. I did end up with a female. :love

So, nobody is saying why they really want females ? they are just smarter , thats all. they train easier, more protective, they make people money if they want to breed. .LOL mainly they are just smarter then the males. my moms 2 dogs male and female, even though they were fixed he still wanted to mark the house. including my bed. had to be very careful to keep doors closed around here. he was a sweet fun loving dog, just not real bright. I personally wont have an animal that is not fixed but as you can tell, I like the girls as well

Enola, you and twisted dont have avatars, I dont think he is able to attach pictures. I have forgotten what he said about it.

do you still have her ? if so how about a picture?

aww, she is adorable !! love the colors. I bet she is not dumb. stubborn maybe ? when i took frosty to the vet her hair was thin on her feet and she said that she had allergy's but she dont . it was from previous owners feeding her cat food all her life. she has gained a bit of weight and is happy , healthy now. I have trained her to go ask tom when she needs to go out. LOL no more ear infections either. she had never been outside . she keeps dragging her bed under the Christmas tree. I take it out and she puts it back. she takes her food under there as well. she is still a bit afraid she wont get any food so she hides it.

I've had a lot of dogs, some more trainable than others... She's definitely not the brightest. The lights are on, but no one's at home, if you know what I mean. ;)

She can sit, and kennel. She will sit and stay while waiting for her food, knows "off" means get off the furniture, inside/outside, leave it (sometimes), and "out." We just got spoiled to a smart, self-training lab who was our first dog kid. Only a handful of repetitions and he'd remember something forever. I haven't been able to work with Jewel and Dolly as much as I did the lab (no kids back then), but I think Jewel will pick things up quickly when we start. She's really intuitive, I think from her Weimaraner genes. It's a good thing Dolly is so cute. :D

That's Jewel. Her mama was a Weimaraner, and daddy was "some kind of lab." She has ZERO lab traits, except maybe coat color. I think the daddy was secretly a pointer mix, maybe.

did she have the blue eyes as a pup? she does look pointer. have you seen her point? of course that dont mean a ton, my cocker points rabbits ,cats, chickens, LOL.
