what does that mean?dont they bleed when you shoot them? well, I know they do,dont they? I know someone that when one is killed in the road they call him and he will go get it to feed his family with.

they do bleed when you shoot them but the way we do it at least is once they are shot (killed) you slit their throats and tag them. Then gut them out. Just shooting them does not release a lot of blood usually and you want it out of the body asap the faster you can cool down the body the better. I usually hang mine for at least a couple days no blood sausage from deer for me than you very much, now pigs blood is another story.

soft ball stage---- easy way to check is have a bowl (easier) full of cold cold water dribble a little of your fudge mixture in to it then get it between your fingers should hold it shape unless squeezed. Make sure to use butter tastes better. LOL You can use salted butter (the normal table type) just either cut down on any extra or leave out completely. I always bake and make candy with normal butter. Still eating leftovers around here. What I couldn't freeze.

Thank you for the info! We were gone most of the weekend, so tonight will be the big fudge experiment. I use salted butter too for baking, and just leave out the extra. Sounds like I cook or something, but really only a couple times a year. Because I'll just eat it. All. I have a vicious sweet tooth.

Sorry about your tenants. Years ago my dad had a small rental property and the renters all but destroyed it. How can anyone live with 3 inches of dirt inside the house? Took us most of a summer to clean it up, make repairs and sell it. That was it for renting. Oh yeah, when they left, they took everything that could be unplugged or unscrewed. Not a light bulb to be found. Bathroom sink was missing too.

I tried to fix something to eat today since dinner yesterday was awful. I couldnt tell you what it was but at least it tasted better. Its gonna be a long time before i want ham again. every day but one since Christmas eve. so I cubed the ham put frozen shredded potatoes in a 9x12,cream of mushroom soup, milk, cream style corn, butter and cracker crumbs and pineapple rings for the top. cant say i ever ate anything like it before.

what is wrong with people ! stealing sinks , really? if they dont have a home where do they think they are going to put the sink ? LOL food, well, I really dont like Mcdonalds. haha I like home cooked meals, country style. soup beans, cornbread, fried taters, mustard greens. mmm..... big glass of cold milk. oh, maybe some bacon. crap, now i am hungry. its not that i dont know how to cook these things. I do, I just dont wanna. breakfast for dinner biskits and gravy I normally just have coffee for breakfast. dinner is anytime between 12 and 3 . then a big gooey snack before bed. them cows, yuck ! that aint all they lick. and you should see what elephants do to their babies with that trunk. or maybe the babies do it to them , I dont remember. since i have lived here I have watched my mom wrangle a good sized calf through an electric fence, kick one that was down to make it get up, It worked too ! I almost hit one down the road from me and I had one almost T-bone me on a fast road ! It was headed straight for the side of the van at full speed and i was going 70 we missed by a tail. also someones buffalo got lose and the police were "forced " to shoot it. LOL that was good. served it at the pumpkin festival.

Ever milked a cow, Granny? I have! I even had some very tame, friendly milk cows. But, something about the damp cloth used to clean their udder, causes them to start peeing shortly after you start milking. And if you don't get them milked out fast enough to keep them from getting bored, they take a big ol' smelly dump! Just the same it was always a sad time when the girls got old and got taken to the auction house......
