Mutt, loved your story. Reminds me of when I lived in a little cottage when I first started teaching. One room with a tiny loft not big enough to stand up, and a small pot belly stove that would practically burn you out of the room. Toasty!

Curious, is Charro a name or occupation???

See? I don't remember it being hard! I remember being cozy safe and toasty! Charro is a mexican horseman or cowboy. His stories were so inspiring. He was 80 when I knew him 25 years ago. He got here from Mexico as a kid and worked as a longshoreman. On Fri, he'd ride horseback to Mexico to see his family. And I whine about what? He had the oddest ways to handle horses. Tricks and wisdom I've never forgotten.
