Morning all. Back home. I blinked this morning and my contact fell out. I have one left, but no replacements. My glasses are missing an arm (leg?) so I have a drinking straw duct taped to the frame. Guess we'll be dipping into savings for my new eyewear.

x2. We knew going in that it would be a challenge and would take work. The one he killed was a chick that got out when I was locking up the coop at night. He retrieved it and put it at my feet and never gave it a second look. So it wasn't prey drive, but work drive. I think that helped a lot, too.

did it affect the dogs hunting or do you hunt her

We haven't tried yet. DH hunts, but not duck. Our thoughts are that he'll understand the difference between chasing chickens in the yard=bad and retrieving ducks on command=good. He's pretty smart, and exceptionally willing to please. He's gone from a dog who didn't understand "no" and put his paws on the counter, lapped dishwater out of the sink, ate food from the babies' hands, etc., to a dog who will sit by a bowl full of food, even if I turn my back and walk away, until I give the command to "eat." No more paws on the counters, no more marking in the house. He still has room for improvement, but I'm continually impressed with his progress. :love

Good morning all!
Camping, that is an incredibly impressive feat you have accomplished with Ben! Kudos to Ben too, for being such a good boy!

I have hope! My mutt would go chasing guckies to her hearts content out in the ponds and stuff up north.

She does not chase the chickens. (Some of the chickens, however, do chase her. Sparkles Nugget is a naughty one.)

My pop had a dog that chased chickens. He was outthere when it chased his prize rooster and pop hit the poor dog in the head with a rock . Well i guess the dog thought the rooster nailed him because he would run from all the chickens afterwards
