i gave the legbars some tylan, hope it helps them. they are very friendly, wonder if its because they are sick?

My legbars are very friendly. They meet me at the coop door and escort me all the way on my rounds. My hen just started laying the prettiest blue egg.

I am glad to hear that things are looking up in your coop.

How is your hubby?

they are getting better fast!!! my husband, not so much. his heart rate wont behave. and the water just wont leave his legs. plus i think he is going through some depression too, i just hadnt noticed. i think men hide things better then woman do. he has a strong will though and that counts for a lot

the legbars , the ones that are feeling good, will jump on my arm when i start to feed or water them, they try to follow me out of the brooder and want to be on me. i have never had a chicken act like that before. the buff orphs are very friendly but these guys want it all. i havent spent time with them so i am a little puzzled by it.

Granny, Glad your chickens are doing better. Sorry to hear things aren't going well with your husband. My Mom went through the A-fib for a while. The first time she was controlled with medication and the second episode did not respond to medications and she went into congestive heart failure. They had to cardio convert her and then her heart went back into a regular rhythm. Eventually she started having more and more episodes of A-fib, which sent her back into heart failure. She also had a lot of fluid in her legs and also her abdomen due to the heart not pumping efficiently, which sent her into failure. She eventually saw another cardiologist, who placed a pacemaker and that did the trick. Hope they'll soon find a treatment that will work for you husband.

pacemaker huh? thanks for the info, they sound the same. you know his heart dr. is not really doing anything for him either. hmmm....

We weren't satisfied with my Mom's cardiologist either and got a referral to another cardiologist that specialized in electrophysiology of the heart(he placed the pacemaker and did ablation) and a cardiologist that handled the mechanical function of the heart. She had two cardiologists. Just wished we had found them earlier, because the continued A-fib and heart failure did weaken her heart.

we are in a small town where the family dr. doubles for the specialists. haha . i will talk to him about taking him to the big city. its hard when you do that though because you still end up with the dr. on call

Ask your doctor to refer you to a cardiologist. Most doctors have a particular specialist they prefer to send you to. You can also ask people you know if they know of a cardiologist and their experience with them. Sometimes word of mouth is a good way to find a doctor. If you know of a particular specialist you want to see, most primary doctors don't mind referring you to them.
