York, I am getting excited about hatching polish and am getting one egg every other day from 3 hens .. How many hens do I need to get a couple a day or is one breed better then others ?

I would say 6-8 hens. I've found gold lace polish are my best layers when they are actually laying. I've just got a polish egg for the first time in months today :D
As the daylight hours increase you should get more eggs. You won't be incubating untill your bator is built right?
They are pesky things and can be sporadic layers.

Afternoon York how you doing today?

I'm good thanks Lisa :highfive: Got my Christmas decs down today, and even managed to badger the other half to do the outdoor ones for me :bun

Don't waste eggs on the stupid crows, feed them to your chickens! You will save money on feed and add animal protein to their diet. That would help over all health boosts for the flock, too.

My mother always has too many and I've been feeding them back to my birds. They love them :drool

tell me more . green poop ? no one else sick. found him on his side in his coop.   thin.

better then worse again. ??

It could be mareks, it can come in waves. If you think it's his leg still have you given him some aspirin? If you could ease his pain he may want to eat more, if it is an injured leg.

thanks, I need to find a couple more then. they are hard to come by here. (bad egg layers). He has great appetite . Sometimes he gets turned in the cage and cant reach the food and water til I come out. He acts like he is starved and he probably is. ( bad chicken mama).

I just remembered there is a breeder about 45 -1hr. from me . maybe after my bator is proven he will come off some eggs.

I dont even remember who it is but I remember the town so I can probably find him/her.

Do you know anything about the langshen ? or however its called .  he is an extra  in my LF coop. making 3 roos.

Don't know much about Langshans. But I do know they don't have crests or blue egg genes. If they lay brown eggs, you DONT want him in your project.

Concerning the Cream Legbars in your project, if you use them, you will want to use a hen not a rooster.

If you get good layers and they pick up in the longer daylight which I suspect they will you should be good. How many eggs are you going to be able to do in your bator? Are you putting other breeds in too?
Your not bad at all, can you make it a little smaller so he can't turn? Some cardboard to box him off?
