If he is an EE with a blue gene, hens that lay brown eggs will give you pullets that lay green eggs; hens that lay white eggs will give you pullets that lay blue eggs.

If your EE rooster has a brown coating gene when you breed him to brown egg laying hens, you will get some pullets that green eggs and some pullets that lay brown eggs; if you breed him to a hen that lays white eggs you will get some green eggs and some cream/pale brown eggs.

Just got into with my 14 year old... I feel really lost. He took off... Probably blowing some steam and I'm trying to think calmly and not punish out of anger but calmness in a right mind....
Sorry Linda, doing battle with a teenager is never pleasant. Hopefully you both can blow a little steam then be able to talk about it after you guys are cooled down. Good luck honey :hugs

So I may need to keep one around the. I was going to cull but I may just keep him and find out later down the road. I wish I knew how to save your post so I don't have to keep asking. Imma try to save it and see if I can figure out where it saves it too. Thank you.

It is really simple. There are two colors of eggs. White and blue.

Brown eggs are white eggs with a brown coating.

Green eggs are blue eggs with a brown coating.

The reason I had to make guesses as to what Red's pullets will lay is because I don't know if he is pure blue gene, or blue & brown genes (green).

So chickens that lay white and blue eggs have no pigmented coating??? I get it now. My Minorca is a white layer. I can breed her with a blue layer to get blue egg layers
