What a stinker!! must know that egg eating gives a nice healthy fur coat!!Discovered yesterday I have an egg eater!!!I have been wondering why some days there is not even one egg when I have 7-8 potential layers. I have looked all over for hidden nests and just figured they are older, so laying more erratically. Now I have discovered SOMEONE has been eating the eggs!!

Hubs caught him with an egg in his mouth yesterday! He's been sneaking in the coop and stealing eggs, the little rat!
Then to top it off, he dug under the fence today and escaped through the neighbor's yard. I had to track him down while he was romping through the neighborhood. Brat!
Soon it will be the 5 year anniversary of him showing up here. Guess the honeymoon is over and he's decided to be a twerp!

Heat is a 60W bulb, heat in ONE corner of the brooder 95-100 decreasing 5 degrees weekly. Make sure the heat is in the CORNER so they can get away from heat as needed.
non slip surface, I use layers of papertowels/wax paper (I put a few layers down so I can roll up top and its all ready to go under it, I can do that while chicks are in it) or pup pads, then pine shavings later,
I use pre-pro biotics in the waterer, dip beaks. New chicks add clean marbles in the waterer for the first few days, if not using a quail waterer to prevent drowning. Chick Pro and Pre Biotic vit cheap! I swear by them! 1st & 2 wks then ACV see post #1409
