It could also be your sinuses backed up in your neck/head plus moving in a different direction, as York said, both affecting your equilibrium and causing pain. (Yes, your sinuses can affect the back of your head and neck) My neck pain is mostly gone because I stopped sitting that way with my laptop. My S.O. had to have sinus surgery years ago and it was an incredible relief for him. It could also be any number of other things, so please have it checked.
