I think hens crowing is more of a weird hormonal thing. I wouldn't expect it to affect a chick. He's been crowing for a week or more.

I thought he looked pullet, too. Maybe it's an egg song! :lau I don't know the honas well enough to judge.

Linda, not feeling to bad right now. hehee  should nap while I can but feels so good to only be in a "little" pain I dont want to.

Camping , so very sorry with your luck .  did they get vacs? does the lame one smell bad ?

Doubt they were vaxed. The breeder hatched them from her stock. No smell that I noticed. I think vitamins might be the answer. :fl

Camping, feel like doing me a favor when you dont have anything else to do ? No hurry .. GS bought starter /grower for my babies and they are growing so big on it ! biggest, fastest I have seen. I would like to stick with it but wonder if its bad for them ? Will it hurt them when they are older or ? There is just too much info for me to understand. all I need is a ya or na.

What's the protein in your starter/grower? What I found says to start chicks on 20% and move them to 18% at 10 weeks. Then 16% as layers. Chicks can start at 18%. And I don't think the higher protein would hurt layers? I think I've seen 18% layer feed. And isn't flock raiser 18%?
