Hands down RIR if I could only have one breed. Took a lot of thought between brown leghorns and RIR, the meat carrying capacity if the RIR carcass made the choice final......

what would you chose? I know there's more expensive and otherbreeds that I'd love to try but I've fallen in love with my silkie. Other breeds may not love me like q-tip lol.

Maybe it is a hen then. How old is the new we roo?

The silkie and the ee are a little over four months old. It comb is about a half inch wide and raised a little. That's why in thinking it's a roo.

is the ee's comb red in color?

That's another reason I'd have trouble choosing. Enolas right. Rir is good for both meat and eggs. I love my leghorns eggs but the rir eggs are almost as big and they have a lots
More meat than the small leghorn. As far as food for the family I'd probably go with the rir too. I'm only judging on the ones I have because I have no experience with others.

I would go back to my Swedish flower hens or Cream legbar.

SFH come in all colors so I get different colors for the same breed. They are nice temperament and lay creamy white eggs. I have not had cream legbers but they lay blue eggs.

I love my SFH, such diversity in color & a very easy going personalities, even my roo.
