Ok thanks Linda. A couple of my girls is laying shelless eggs. I have been feeding the layer feed from tsc. Imma have to change feeds. Was thinking of using the all flock . But now idk. Anyone have a suggestion?

Don't change feeds just throw a hanful of oyster shell out there. That's what I do about once a month or so. They eat what they need.

All good eggs!!

Lol not sure. Hubs has classes at fire mechanic academy up in sac, and then I think he plans to take a day somewhere around Yosemite before we beetle back.

Our vacation plans got rather thwarted by my parents coming to visit...which isn't a bad thing but when they tell you we'll check with you before we book our flight then the next thing you hear is an email saying hey look here's our flights...

...sigh.

Got woken up early by puking dog. Lovely.

Hope your day gets better!!

We had a bad storm at 3am. Too much rain. Will take a week for garden to dry out enough to plow again.
They has it on the news this morning, how bad the weather out your way. You've got too much wet, and here I am dreading having to start watering things today.

I've been putting oyster she'll out for a couple weeks now. Idk what's going on. Even the ones that's laying have thinner shells. Now I did get a bag from the feed store a that they ate a month ago. The feed from tsc that I've been fermenting has a different smell that the older bags from tsc had before. Think they changed something?

Good morning!!   TGIF!

If you use an all flock, you have to provide calcium for them.  Mine get layer pellets and I still keep a dish of oyster shell out for them.  It gets eaten, even though the layer is supposed to have enough calcium.  They will eat what they need.
For some reason I've yet to see them touch the oyster shell. I spend a lot of time with them too. Only thing I've seen them do is kick the bowl over and walk away. I know that they don't just gobble it up like feed but I haven't seen them touch it.

You need Vit D to absorb the calcium. Maybe that is missing somehow or the feed is old. It's not unusual to see a soft egg once in a while. Hens will have the occasional glitch in their egg production, but if you have more than one hen laying soft eggs at the same time, I think it might be the feed. Are you sure there is more than one with the problem? Otherwise you may just have a hen "malfunctioning" for some reason.

Ohhhh that is odd. I would change it then...

Yes they're in two separate coops.I think I'll get some more feed.

Goat folks: is it normal for them to act a little depressed after banding? Or do I need to look for something else wrong? I sprayed them to keep the mosquitoes off then let them out. They aren't lethargic, but they're not energetic.
