We have actually had cooler summers the last few years, but warmer drier winters. A normal summer would have a week or two of temps over 100, and winter would have a week or two below freezing. It's been less extreme, except for the dreaded drought, which is now in the 5th year, as the snow pack in the Sierra is not quite enough to call it good.
I heard that on the radio/news the other day that they was very good snow pack but not enough to lift Ca out of the drought.
