Part of it is because they are young yet, usually after 4 or 5 days of you putting them in they will go in themselves. That's if the coop isn't dark. In my smaller coop that is darker even during the day. I leave a low watt light bulb turned on until they get in for the night. Then I turn it off. If it is not on, they won't go in ~ even the adult birds.

I sure hope they do.The coop is dark at night maybe i should leave a light on for them.my adult birds go to roost before dark..I have an outside lights that makes it a little better to see.

Jane, tulips are almost done blooming, is it safe for the tomatoes now ?

Im still covering mine at night with 2 liter coke bottles with bottoms cut off. Cold wind will kill them. Chickens broke 2 that died.

Hi Jane, wish it was warm enough here for gardening. We still have a bit of snow left from the last storm that came thru last week.

Yes. Really not looking to good for the last 7. I guess 60 percent isn't too bad for my first hatch.

You had a wonderful hatch Red. My first hatch netted me 4/12, I was excited none the less. My hatch is finished up too. So our little hatch along is complete. Was a little sad about my shipped SFH eggs. Out of 14 eggs shipped, 10 went to lockdown, but I really questioned 2. I had 5 hatch, the 2 I questioned were definitely not good & the other 3 were moving on day 18, but never internally pipped

Yep, bet if you leave the light on until they are in you won't have a problem anymore. Chickens can't see well in low light, so a dark coop to enter scares them to death.
