Well, we will have to find you a way to get some large print books for you to read. Who do you know that might be willing to go to the library to pickup books for you? Maybe if you call the local library they have a program of some sort.

Does anybody else have any ideas? Good luck with your procedures tomorrow. Try not to worry yourself too much. Things will work out for you somehow. Hugs to you!

Granny, I came across your thread by accident but I've read it all the way through. I really love the little community y'all have created.

I have two kids, both through c-sections, and with the first one I was just like you: I didn't want anything to do with those pain pills. Then my sweet, precious doc in all her wisdom said "If you hurt, you won't heal. So don't be a hero." And I've always taken that to heart. You seem strong minded enough to take them under instructions and be fine.

Now, what to do? I like to crochet, and it's really easy to learn through YouTube or other tutorials online. Cheap to start, too! It's good for keeping your hands and your brain busy. Scarves and dish scrubbers are the two very easiest things to do. I'd be happy to send any yarns or hooks, if you want to try. My yarn stash is second only to my quilting stash. But the chickens are quickly catching them both. :D

Hope all goes well in the morning Granny. I hate it when I can't have my coffee I'm not my sunny self at all. Those 1000 piece puzzles are always fun to do and will keep you busy for awhile. That neighbor that took all your chickens should bring you a few eggs.

Hey Granny! I'm new to BYC, and chickens (with the exception of a Banty Roo named Sara(yep,Roo named Sara...that i hand raised at age 6...He lived indoors, roosted in my barbie mall and rode on my bike handle bars, as well as play dead if you pointed your finger at him and said Bang)i havent read all your posts yet...but your chicken sleeping in cat bed with cat made me laugh till i cried! Please don't think me cruel...i am so sorry she was attacked :( it was just the mental pic i got was great ;)you paint great pictures with you words ;) Keep it up ;)

Good luck on your stress test, granny. I agree with campingshaws, both about the pain meds and the crochet. If you are actually experiencing pain, you will not become addicted to pain medication. That only happens when people take pills they don't need. My mother in law has been through 3 back surgeries and was worried about addiction too. After the first week, she just cut pills in halves and quarters and took as little as possible to be able to rest and sleep. I don't think she would have made it without them.

Crocheting is fun, but if you don't see up close too well, it can be tricky. I'm a lefty too, and could never learn from righties showing me, but with book diagrams I could ignore the handedness and just do what I saw. You might like something called Loom Knitting which is done on a plastic frame with pegs. I haven't tried it, but it's supposed to be really easy to learn. You can get a kit at a fabric or craft store, stock up on a bunch of yarn, and make all your Christmas presents early. Who doesn't want a new hat or scarf!

How about crossword puzzle books? Sudoku? Brain exercises! You can always haunt the threads on BYC. Or you could write out all your jokes and put together a book. It would sell. You made me laugh quite a bit already!

Do you still have that Roo? I would love to see a video of him playing dead! That's too funny.
