wishing4wings, i bet she is a good cook too ! lol

Yes, 3 grades of Serama, and I think most of mine are mid-size (class B). They don't live in the kitchen. We only had them in for a short photo session.

They say 5 tiny eggs to make one x-large egg. This is a custard dish!

I am nervous about getting birds through the mail for the first time too. My 3 replacement pullets (for the sick ones I culled) should be here tomorrow. Can hardly wait. Getting a jubilee Orpington, cuckoo Orpington, and a Marans. They will live in the garage until big enough to join the mob outside.

JUBILEE ORPINGTON OMG. If I was on the desktop site (not mobile) I would send all the jealous emoticons.

i just talked to him and he said most of his were A a few B . he showed me where his orignal stock came from. jerrys seramas llc. you can google it. I dont want to keep them in the house but i have someone looking after my chickens 3 times a week and i am a bit nervous about them being out there without a daily check. sounds like you are getting some good ones !!!

You know, I got into the speckled sussex in accident, because we were at an auction and I thought they were jubilee orpingtons. We paid $9 each on five pullets and I was so embarrassed! Then we realized the SS are pretty good too. Well we lost one, and the next month's auction decided to sell two. They brought $20 each!!! It was ridiculous. Well then I bought the four more from an ad online, and paid $30 for the four (three point-of-lay hens and a roo). I'm going to try to sell one or two at the November auction, along with the Rhode Island whites, because they're meanie heads.

The sussex are just so docile and sweet. Even the roo is a total dreamboat.

Yes Wishing4wings, my girls are spoiled. LOL My DH says that those darn chickens eat better than he does to which I reply, it is purely by choice as you have the same options plus, I'm sure the girls would share.

It's easy to do when you have such a small flock. Darn laws.

WOW, the Seramas are tiny. Didn't realize just how small they actually are. Pretty little things. I sometimes have trouble breaking my little Lucile's (bantam EE) eggs since my hands are so bad and she lays the hardest shelled eggs. The only miniature chickens I've ever been around - bantams - just don't seem as friendly as their larger counterparts. Just my limited observation.

Granny, I do love to cook and did train some with a master chef when I was in college. Never had any complaints.

mrsc, maybe some day i can sit down and have a bite with you. i hate the torture chamber !! i seen the hen and roo i will be getting they are a b size and a breeding pr. the roo looks like a miniature mille flure and the hen is speckled. the eggs will be a mix of what he has.
