Vent Gleet is a yeast/fungal infection of the intestinal tract. Do the butts stink and are they all stained with poop? If so, you have Vent Gleet. The probiotics will clear up the yeast infection from the inside out. You can also apply vaginal cream to the butts too. If the butts are just messy, no red vent area and no stink, then probably not Vent Gleet. But use the probiotics anyway.

And many times when you have external mites, you have internal ones as well. So of the butts are just all stained with poop only, then you may have worms going on instead. :)
Vent gleet can also be from coccidiosis, worms or bacterial infection.

Quote: Absolutely! Any issue or disease that upsets the good bacteria of the intestinal tract or weakens the bird in any way opens the door to yeasts and fungus.

I'm worried about those runny noses. :( I hate vent Gleet so nasty. Hope the probiotics clear it up for you. I have a hen that's being a bully since she hatched and raised a chick I rehomed the chick now it was well over eight weeks and she's got a little better but not much. Starting to wonder if I should send her to a new home or give it more time. Why can't they all just get along!

You are right to worry suzierd, I had someone come last night to help me worm them . I got them one at a time and pulled 3. The 2 leghorns and the male legbar. they have a rattle in their chest. that is the ones that had the clear snot , puffed up, and sneezing. I have them separated and not sure what to do for them. i am going to tsc today after drs. for the ivermectin. i checked them all. no mites except for the one leg mites in the old roo. i put Vaseline on his legs again while i had him and i will dose them today . there is no eye problems in the sick ones nothing like the mg so i am stumped but they are in the barn, far away from my seramas and i dont like it one bit. i think i rather cull them then take a chance .

I forgot to say , I found a picture that belongs to casportpony ,it is the inside of the mouth of a chicken close up and a very good veiw of where the meds should and shouldnt go. I knew it was there. I read the info but the picture is always worth a thousand words in my book.

Be very careful with those sick birds. You can carry germs from the sick chickens into your house to your Seramas.

Personally, if I were you and I was worried about the Seramas getting sick.......... I would cull the sick birds. Sorry if you didn't want to hear this.
