enola ! hi. you thinking cocci ? how are you and yours doing? any good news? I went to toss the bad eggs today and out of 5 i only tossed 2 the one that was clear now looks like a blood ring. so i am leaving them for a bit more. the 2 I did toss were not fertile that i could see. and i got my first serama egg today.

I always thought bantams were easier then LF to raise .

Those that are left are 5 weeks old today. The guineas are a week younger but I only lost one of them and I think it was because it was at the bottom of the pile when they went to sleep.

They just seem to stop eating, get cold and then die. Actually, I don't know if they completely stop eating but their crops are always empty. There are too many of them in there to check the poop of one individual but I haven't seen anything that looks unusual.

I forgot to add that they are under 2 heat lamps. One at either side of the pen.

sounds to me like you have a bad batch of feed. thats funny about them going nuts over the chicken though. as far as mine, I had a problem early in the post with mg . i worked w/ them for a long time. I do believe that its back even after rehoming 87 of them and starting again. so the denaguard will be used as a preventative . once a month in the water and eggs are safe to eat. or so i have been told. I would like to know more about that. when i am not so tired i will look into it better.

Congrats on your first Serama egg!!!

Unfortunately, you won't find much about Denagard, except what's been posted in forums. Last year you could access the manufacturer's information for poultry, but since it isn't approved for poultry in the US, some government entity had the site blocked. Guess we are too dumb to decide for ourselves.

What I remember is that eggs are safe to eat, but meat has a withdrawal (maybe 2 weeks?), according to European studies. No resistance develops, and yes it is bitter, so must be the only source of water or add in a little sugar. I have the treatment and preventative dosages somewhere. Dawg would know too.

this is gonna take me a min. because, well, because i dont really know what i am doing but drum roll please.......

Great to see your birds! Beautiful! You'll have to take some more pics when the Serama rooster gets his sickle feathers. They look friendly. Not running away from your hand. Not much bigger than your hand!

thank you guys !! they are very small they even look bigger in the pic. ok, i am forgetting , sickle feathers? what do you think that little black and white mottled hen is? i am guessing another seabright mix ? the phoenix is my favorite so far. i got him this spring as a chick from TSC
