what a day. couple hrs. at ER. strep of course. waiting for meds. off to feed and water. oh the joys. LOL my grandson cooked me a hamburger but it was more the size of a meatloaf. yes, I ate it all. I was hungry !! I have never heard so much whining, and crying in my life. I cant swallow, I cant eat, I am in soo much pain. mom, mom, mom. then theres the grandkids wanting, wanting, OMG !!! its like they have to eat 3 times a day or something. I can see how this is going to play out, about the time they all get better will be the same time they leave. such is life. that chick is still laying half in the shell in the bator, it had a big yolk this morning. its not trying to do anything. TSC said i can get store credit but she was pissy about it. said I should be calling co. not bothering her about it. I have an orchlins not a mile or so down the road from them.
Well never mind her, if you can use the credit then go with that. Is she the manager? You do know they have a survey on the receipt? I would not hesitate to mention her attitude.

Though they're very nice to me here. Know my name and I do shop there often. They have great sales on things I like. I've bought flannel shirts and jeans. Boots for the GD and other things.

I don't stress about a few pennies more if it means my friends are employed. Even with a Walmart across the street I'd still shop TSC.

Really folks if you've got "stuff" perhaps it would make sense to have a garbage sale come spring. 100 items for $1 - 2 each and you've got incubator money. Lord have mercy I think we could do it easy around here. Of course we're old so stuff accumulates.

Who cares what we get? It's just sitting around anyhow.

does any one know what i should do with this chick? making me feel bad but i wonder if its just absorbing its yolk. 23rd day and been half hatched for 2 days now
Are you sure there is still yolk? If so I'd cull it. I put them in a bag and in the freezer. Baby chicks are fragile and go quickly. I've heard it's like falling asleep. Less stress for them and me.

I am sorry for your trouble.

I would have culled it, sorry. But, this is a decision you need to make for yourself.......

It depends on how much time I've got to invest. Which for me is none. I just don't have the time to invest in nursing chicks or chickens. Though I do have a hen not doing so well. I had hoped she'd die soon. I just don't want to baby them. I'm not sure what is wrong but have tried the basic treatments.

Everytime it happens I get all down and swear I'm done with chickens. Takes me days to recover.

No one mentions this stuff in the chicken books. It's all sunshine and roses. Then when a predator shows up or disease to wreck your world it's "I hate chickens I'm getting rid of them all".
