newspaper and cardboard will work but are both serious fire hazard's. Especially in an older place. Just my 2 cents worth. BE CAREFULL

This is true but in this cold to block the draft and keep the pipes from freezing you have to do what you can. Landlords can be so heartless.

Your 2 cents is always welcome. Heck I'll take 4 cents.

its very quiet. I can now hear my son cussing in his room again. he has a terrible potty mouth. I used to think he talked to himself but he has headphones on his game. wafers are in and i think they are doing the same as the old ones. I had it at 100 for an hr. went back , it was 80. I give.

LOl, thank you. do well, I went in there and just touched the switch and it clicked back on and went back to 100. ??? see if it holds . maybe it just needed a kick start.

I DID IT !! forgot to tell you all. the fluffy butts I was talking about earlier. they are EE/Americana mix . I was going to get 3. they will lay blue to green eggs. Picked them up yesterday. I got 3 then i got 3 more then i got one to grow on.

Chicken behavior question. Put new hens in with a rooster and the hens pluck the roosters neck raw. he stands there and lets them do this until they draw blood . that is when i will pull him back out. I have seen this 3 times in my flock. latest was the 2 serama pullets with my older rooster but not that old. they are not laying yet but they are getting red combs.

I would spray his neck with Blue Kote and make some minor changes in the coop. Ex. Move the feeder/waters. Clean the nest boxes and/or coop. Pull your dominant hen for a day. If you know who she is.

Then put her and him back in the mix at night and see what happens.

If he still lets them beat him up, show him pictures of the Red carpet actresses. If he perks up, get a new rooster.
