Twist, seems I have an angel too. Looks as though I'm getting a free bucks calendar! I would love to know who voted for me to get this but your having so much of a hard time finding your angel that I doubt I'll ever find mine. Oh I'll be looking but I know it will probably be like a needle in a hay stack. To who ever my angel is, thank you so much!

a lot of people say that I dont see it i guess . she is way prettier then i am.  Polish are doing good. one egg every other day . LOL  No blue egg yet either.

Now granny you know you're a very pretty lady too. And she does look a lot like you.

Mare- whats a battery bird?

The horrible little cages used to house hens in commercial laying houses are called battery cages, the hens in them are often referred to as battery hens.

This is terrible to me mare. If I'm remembering right, leghorns like having a little more space then being confined. I know mine does anyway. She always the first outta the coop and all over the yard exploring.

In Ca, 2008 they increased the cage size required. They outlawed battery housing in Jan 2015. All hens must be cage free and have enough room to stand up, turn around and spread their wings without touching another chicken. Also, any producers that sell to Ca must comply with the same standards. It caused a major egg shortage here right about the time Avian Flu wiped out 10 million hens in the midwest and east. Stores were limiting cust to 1 doz, charging $6. per/dz and still running out.
Most of our chicken farmers shut down and left the state. My friends own Brookhurst Mills. Family business for ages. They've gone from 12 mills to 2 and are going to go under. Collateral damage.
Now, if they could go after the puppy mills, I'd be a happy camper!
