A dog story for granny:

There was math teacher at one school where I taught, kind of an odd guy. He got this adorable little Akita puppy that he would bring to school, so cute! That dog idolized him. About a year later, he got engaged. Wife to be said either the dog goes or she does. Big doofus chose wrong, he married her. My sister ended up taking the dog. Lady, changed to Sadie, was beautiful, but very unlike any dog we'd ever had. She was so "controlled," didn't have any personality at all. No expression or spontaneity. Is it possible for a dog to be over trained? It's how she was with her original owner, so not that she was scared or anything. Anyway, it took a full year before Sadie became the dog that I think of as her real self, still well mannered and a bit reserved, but now expressive and able to act independently of her owner. She wagged, she woofed, she played. Like a whole new dog. My sis ended up using Sadie as a social therapy dog. Apparently the first Akita they'd ever had complete the program.

Anyway, the opposite of Lily in that you are trying to calm her down instead of livening her up, but I think it speaks to how ingrained their behaviors are. A whole year to teach a dog that she does not have to be some sort of robotic zombie being. Be interesting to see where Lily's at in a year. (Don't like her going after the cats, though. Cats are yours and she shouldn't threaten them.)

I agree that the chicken you all were talking about earlier looks more like a bantam Brahma. It is not a Cochin. They have a different comb. Cochin will have a single comb (like your Henrietta) and Brahmas have a pea comb, which is sort of flat, wide and bumpy looking.

I was wrong, there is 18 pages and i go to 4 with no lisa !!
good story wishing. sounds like star. so perfect they are no fun. I didnt have to do training on her. she just does it. I think she was protecting the food. table scraps, something she dont get.
