OH no. I pound the steak and dress it like fried chicken and fry it., then make a homemade gravy from the drippings. Its my brother in laws favorite... he's on vacation so I thought I would surprise him.

She'll get up on her own, don't worry. She's going to lose weight, so don't worry about that either. It's natural. If she poops in the nest then just gently remove the eggs and add a layer of fresh bedding, then put the eggs back. Easy peasy.

Broodies are very low maintenance.

x2 on the broody Red. she just needs to be fed, watered and left alone. LOL thats a hard thing to do I know.  Not sure what your feeding but if you intend for her to take care of them she should be on chick food or flock raiser crumbles.

omg I'm so glad you brought this up. I've still been giving her layer feed. I just changed it to chick feed. I didn't even think of that from being so excited.

You ladies are forgetting about the most dangerous snake of all found everywhere.  One bite can cause MASSIVE swelling and intense pain.  Comes in all colors and sizes as well   

What type of snake is that you ask      The bed-snake.   Got my sister-in-law a small bat to take care of her's  LOL 

I've come up with a new saying. I call it snake cake. The best part is the creamy filling.

He actually re-purposed it to kill/stun fish when in his boat.   Besides his wife already had  his  "wings" clipped after the 2 nd child.

Granny ~ thank you for being such a caring woman, especially to your grandkids. If they didn't have you to learn that woman are not to be treated lower than an animal. Then there would be 6 boys coming to age that wouldn't have any idea how to respect a woman ~ You Go Girl!

Lindalouly ~ Thank God for parents that were there for you, so that you could change & become the woman that you are today. We are all proud of you.

Camping, York & Danna ~ thank you for being our own cheerleader squad for when times are tough. Just seeing one of your jokes, a funny story or if one of you are having a hard day. It reminds me to get off the pity pot & be a better person to you all.

BertS ~ a very joyful welcome to the hen house. I think this coop is big enough for another roo. Sounds to me like you have a very special other half. And that makes you very special because you see her as a very strong woman & you're not threatened by that as some men can be.

I'm not certain what Mare, Enola, Tippy & Angel are up too, but I hope it is fun!!!

I've used up my time alloted for lunch, must run for now, but will be back later. If I've forgotten anyone please forgive me & know it wasn't intentional.

P.S. Red, every broody is different, my first broody I separated from the flock. She was in her own broody cage & she was very determined. She wouldn't get off the nest for nothing unless I removed her. She would run around spastic for food, water, broody poo & to dust bathe. She usually was out only 10-15 minutes tops. My second broody, a Silkie I just blocked it off to the nest boxes. The other Silkie that was laying at the time preferred going to the layers coop to lay her egg anyways, so no problem there. When the babies were a week old, I added an addition bed box to the Silkie coop & Momma & babies slept there. I took a chance with the Silkies because they tend to be more gentle. It all worked out, momma had the young ones out the first week with no ill affect. Sure hope your broody will stay focused.

one of the best things about being married to a man 25 yrs. your sr. He has his own room and thats the way its been for 13 yrs. or so.  we will be married 21 yrs. come friday.

His birthday is this month too. I want to do something special for him. you just never know with his health if it could be the last .  that thought scares the hell out of me . despite separate rooms . I love him greatly.  after his stroke he became a child to me. very strange life change . Hard to handle but there it is. you know ?

I bought Tom a little wooden plaque when we met that said I will give you my (picture of heart) but you will have to marry me to get my (picture of cat).  I had a ring on my finger the next week.
