NAILED IT GRANNY!!!!!

Been reading off and on all day when I had a minute. so heartwarming and funny as always. So Bert eh? Sounds like a keeper for the coop!
Ponder this if you are blessed to have elders around you.
Pops brought the 2 RIR gals home yesterday. Backstory, he was butt hurt that I set up a Q pen. They came from his farm, his GS and GS's GF's young hens. Gorgeous hens.
Shame on me. I wasn't thinking. Pops is 83, brought me these beautiful hens to add to our flock, I set them up like a leper colony. Shame on me. He does things old school, raised chickens since he was a kid. He knew dam well they were healthy and fine to add to our flock. I moved them in to the run today in a look but don't touch pen. I hate that I disrespected his vast knowledge and him.

have you tried explaining that there are so many more "new" diseases now days and you have read so many horror stories on this site you just sort of freaked out?? might be worth a try

or tell him you seen one of yours sneezing and you dont want to take the chance of making his beautiful reds sick.

linda, I had to get a prescription from the vet because Frontline and Advantage don't work anymore.  We rarely have fleas, but my big dog is allergic, so even one can cause trouble.

I found the box.  It's called Bravecto.  A chewable pill given once every 3 months. Worked like a charm.  Only gave one dose this spring and haven't needed another so far.  Problem is it's expensive.  I remember enola had a cheaper alternative, but don't remember the name.

Other than that, all I know is shampoos and sprays, flea collars?, and fanatical vacuuming.  Hopefully mutt will know a magic bullet.

No magic bullet here. Frontline and Advantage aren't working very well, but the cheaper fipronyl based generic of them is worth trying.. Vectra? Revolution? Both prescription. Feed through, Trifexus,(bad press lately) Comfortis (fleas only)

Loved vectra when we lived in MS. It was cheap and worked great. Here it's impossible to find and if you do costs way too much.

Well that means Camping is still the youngest of your bunch. Camping, how old are your kids?

My kids are 6 and 3. Both have birthdays in a few months.

Im  a washingtonian through and through... Grew up as a military brat and I just love Washington. I can drive anywhere and find a hidden secret spot in our forest. My family is from Iowa... been to North Dakota, but my heart belongs in Washington.

All my inlaws are from Iowa! That's where we'll spend Christmas this year.
