First clump. Initial attack?

Everything else is behind that yellow ball. I think whatever got her came from the azaleas. Maybe fox? That's what Bert though took my chick in the daylight.

One of those clumps has some meat on it. I think this is where the kill happened. I can't find a body or any other feathers. And none of the other birds are acting scared, so I guess she was alone when it happened?

have you checked Ben's mouth, gums, inside his lips , teeth?? might find a cut or feather or something stuck.

I don't think that Ben did it. He was only outside about ten minutes alone this morning, and DH brought him in because the biddy ran up. DH would have seen or heard something right there off the porch.

I agree with you just giving you options in case you had any doubt.

Fox? Hawk? Feral cat? Coyote?

What do you think would kill so close to the house? It could have happened in the gray light when I was driving DD to school. Or at lunch when I went to the doc. Or literally any other time of day. :/
