I need some feedback. My Callie kitty is going to die soon. (kidney problems) I can probably spend some money and fix her up for a while. She's 16. I am choosing not to because she pees everywhere! She has not used a litterbox in 5 years or so. She's even peeing in my bed! I feel awful because I could take her to the vet and prolong and improve her life, but I'm sooooo tired of the peeing. Your thoughts, please
I'm an over the top animal lover, but also a realist after working in shelters. #1 reason indoor cats are turned in and euthanized is for not using a cat box. IMO

No one in their right mind should be expected to tolerate a cat peeing all over the house. For an incontinent dog, you can use potty pants. Not so for cats. You could confine her to one area or a cage. What kind of life is that? Your kitty is ancient. Cats are funny too, they never show pain. Me thinks at her age you might be forcing her to live in pain unless they can prescribe pain killers. Can't tell you what to do, I just know what I have done. When my cat's got old with serious medical issues, I had them put down, peacefully and without pain..

I'm glad that a lot of you have spouses that are glad that you've found friends here. I don't think mine understands, I think he thinks I'm nuts lol. He has his friends & work & work people. I have my home, my grown children, my grandchildren & my chickens & now a group of very special people that I call friends. Hubby doesn't talk to me much, he isn't a conversation kind of person. He was when we dated, but only for a couple years. Lots of days I feel like I'm living with a stranger. You all probably know me better than he does. Seems like if it isn't on TV its not given a second thought. Sorry, just venting tonight.

Ok this is unorthadox but remember im 52 and have a 2yo. Try meeting him at the door wrapped in saran wrap and a smile,it made me and Sue have a well rather frank discussion about communication ROFL

Tippy sorry to hear this. But she has lived a very long wonderful life. To me I'd have to put her down too. Even if she wasn't peeking everywhere, how much longer would her life be? That's an old cat.

I am feeling guilty because I want the peeing to stop at the expense of her life. Does that make sense?
Honey that's not being selfish, that's being practical & truly its time.

ok Lauren is hopefully down for the night probably not shell bust thru tge door and say papa keered, or cold, sleep papa sleep papa lol and she plays in papas beard till she drops off,man i would not trade that for nuthin !!!!!!
