Hi Granny,

Try giving your chick Whey water. I don't mean whey protein powder like the body builders use. I mean whey like the by-product of making cheese or yogurt. It's high in protein and contains probiotics that are healthy for your chicks (and you, too). I agree that you need to keep the little guy extra warm and force feed it if you need to with a little syringe (minus the needle), being very careful not to push too much down it's beak at once. I also recommend adding honey to the whey for electrolytes. Much better than Ensure. I pretty much think these two things - whey and honey - are magical. I have used them on chickens, goats, baby cows and pigs, as well as my own granddaughter and it always seems to produce good results. I like to go the natural route, using things as close to how God intended them as I can, but if worse comes to worse, call your favorite vet.
