how about building a wooden walkway like a board walk or something to that effect

I gave myself a wooden floor in the coop, I should of been more plain. this is the run. I should rid myself of the nest boxes where I have to walk in there to gather the eggs and build more like I have in the coop . I can access them from the outside. Bad design on my part.

From what I understand it depends on how much of a tree hugger you are. It is harvested from natural bogs and is not renewable. so Thats a big no no in my book. It is safe for chickens and some use it for bedding. It helps clay soil (i have) to improve drainage but it also holds moisture. I think sand would be just as good an amendment as peat for me but much more expensive . The peat is normally $10. on sale for 4. so its last years stuff.

if it is last years I would think it would be drier which would be a good thing in you situation
