So finally heard back from the Man that sold Granny, Enola, and crazy Sheila to the man I bought them from. They are all 1/2 sisters same father. So much for an unrelated herd.

ON the bright side all of their parents were registered. Now to get a hold of the yak society and find out what is next. Hopefully registering them isn't to pricey.

Why is it bad if they are related???
not terrible, so long as they don't pass on poor genes.

many times, with bovine, swine, or goats, folks will line breed, with is father to daughter, especially if both have attributes they want to pass on. but if done too much, genetic malformities can be passed on.

twisted, I think it may be a distant enough relation, that shouldn't impact breeding, too much. Especially, if your bull is from different lines?

Yes the bull is unrelated to them all came from Wy Gruniens Ranch. Porter's grandpappy was one of the top 3 yak sires in the county for quite a while. Dreadlock

so you can safely breed Porter back to daughters.

if you got a bull calf from a pairing, you could probably safely breed him to any other cows that are dropped from Porter, and can for sure breed him to the other two cows you have.

but yeah, I would be upset too, about the false advert
