You are so right about this. Like the equivalent of puppy mills for exotics.

It's pretty well regulated in CA (like everything else!) so we don't see those little roadside zoos/sanctuaries. There is a big place north of town here, Safari West, that keeps African ungulates mostly. Their breeding programs works with zoos to keep genetically viable, healthy populations going. It would be sad to find that some of their offspring wind up in the types of "refuge/sanctuary" places you are taking about. I wonder if they keep track?

It stopped snowing at about 2pm today. The biggest problem will be all of the melted snow freezing tonight when it goes down to about 13* tonight. Megan and I are staying at the hotel where she works, free of charge because Megan has to cover the morning shift. I have to be at work at 6 in the morning. I can see Wal~Mart from my hotel window.

Sorry, had to get some things done. Seems I've been on here all day. I'm going to get a bigmouth award if I'm not careful!

It's all your fault, camping!

I cracked open 10 Serama eggs that have been sitting on the counter and 7 were fertile!!!

All this time I have been saying the rooster is shooting blanks. I owe Mo a huge apology for disparaging his chicken manliness. Actually, I think many of the hens he doesn't breed are broody right now and not laying, so my sample size is skewed. Would be surprised if more than 4 of the 9 hens with him are getting fertilized. That being said, I still have fertile eggs that could potentially hatch if I quit pulling them from under the broodys.

What do I do?? I can't keep the cockerels.

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATCHHHHHHHHH!!
:jumpy :yiipchick :jumpy :weee

I left the coop locked until after noon today, to see if I got the "guinea" egg without the guineas having access to the boxes. Smart! But joke's on me, because they all crossed their legs and refused to lay til I opened the coop. :barnie At 3:30 there were still girls in every box. :rant

Weighed my eggs out of curiosity.

Biggest: EE "Cinder" and australorp "Twilight" tied at 66 grams.

Smallest: EE "Goldie" at 48 grams.

Then comes the well-anticipated svart hona egg from "Lagertha" at a whopping 36 grams. Is that too small to incubate? Should I wait a week and then try?

I got another very pointy egg today, but it's bigger than the last one. Not sure if I should crack it to check fertility or just put it in the bator.

WISHING I'm going to get mine running TOMORROW and let it stabilize for a few days. :weee

Up before five on a Saturday? Why not.... Good morning everyone! So guess what? Had my interview with the other place yesterday. They loved me and want me. And the co owner of the company has such a awesome vibrant personality! I'll be making $3 an hour more, it'll be a permanent position, and it's not through any kind of employment agency to take a HUGE cut of my pay. Oh and it's a LOT closer to home too. It starts off as part time (20 hours a week - but other bright side that's two full days and a half!) but there is the huge potential to get more hours....as I get more comfortable in the payroll role, they would love if I could take other responsibilities off the plate of the co owner. It's a hubs and wife that runs it ;) actually, I'm excited with it starting as part time too. I feel like such a wuss but I've been getting burnt out working full time with an hour of commuting each way, then coming home and minding the house, minding the monsters (yes hubs counts in that lol) So I am excited. There's going to be a huge learning curve...but they're cool with that and with me taking another two weeks to give the tax firm some notice. (Told them didn't want to leave them high and dry!) Another bonus. This place is rather close to hubs' work. Probably won't be carpooling since you never know if he gets road calls etc but! Be close for lunch dates and such ;) and at least if my car is up to any shenanagins, I'm on the way ;) (which yeah. My car is getting to the age/miles where random shenanagins are a possibility lol) So looking forward to being able to actually budget and having a dependable income :) Which helps when hubs looks at properties like this... http://www.trulia.com/property/3025770040-444-Feghali-Rd-Ramona-CA-92065 (Which okay. I confess. Kinda on board with. House is tiny but the pad is there we can do a manufactured house or something on it or build something bigger...and rent out the lil house eventually. And the shop would greatly please him. And all the land would greatly please me....and the dog and chickens lol. But we're not in a position to buy right now. Sigh)
that's great star :weee
Granny,
What do Baby dreams mean?

Dreaming of babies may represent an immature aspect of yourself or a new aspect of yourself that is still maturing or developing. It may also symbolize a part of you that is feeling neglected or needs to be nurtured, loved and accepted by you.
 • Alternately, a baby may represent someone that is acting like a baby or someone who is naïve or innocent (possibly you).
 • A baby dream may also be prodromal and is telling you that you are pregnant.
omg so my dream means I'm pregnant! I knew it. Been carry this baby around for years now. Wonder when it'll hatch? Now the real problem. Its been so many years that I've been eating for two, how do I know who the baby mama is? Time for Springer or Maury I guess.
how comes Jack gets so many hugs from you campin? what he do that I didnt? :lau :gig awwwwwww
I've wondered the same about you. Granny always gets a hug and I rarely do.:(
Back shoulder blade I have cherry blossoms with the names of three of my boys written in Thai. And a stupid tattoo on my hip.
Can you post pics?
the news said NC got snow and under it is a layer of ice,,i hope he stays home.
I never stay home in snow and ice. I run everyone to work and back. Give me an excuse to get out in it and no one else will drive in it.
Twisted would be fun to do. Shut up red.
grannys gonna get you :lau
People without younger kids probably won't get this, but it is SO TRUE. My youngest can type up a storm, but his cursive looks like a blind monkey wrote it! Speedy texting and xboxing thumbs do not translate into fine motor skills.
so true and sad. I didn't believe my son when he told me that he didn't know how to read or write it. And now in math , you don't even have to have the right answer. You just have to believe it's right and wallah, it's right. I honestly believe that they're making kids have no common sense.
