I'm posting Ben on fb groups today. DH has given him another week, I guess because that's when we're moving the honas out. We both know he doesn't stand a chance in a shelter, but we hate him living in the kennel on the porch. It's a tough spot. :/

You might reach more people if you also put a listing on craigslist.  My sister found her last dog there and the people drove almost 3 hours to bring the dog to her.  It was a huge Neopolitan mastiff x Bull mastiff.  She never would have seen it if they had only posted on FB.  I hope you find him a place. He's such a good dog. Just can't be around chickens. 

Agreed. I worded the posting so people know going to be very selective in his new home. Our craigslist is not typically a high class of folks, and I'd hate for him to be a bait or yard dog. I'm going to put fliers a few places around town, too.

If there's a local gun store or some place where soft hearted hunters might shop, some fliers might go well there.

The shelters up here are full of pits, but fortunately, I haven't heard of any fighting in quite awhile. At least not in our county.

We're very rural, so most places are frequented by hunters. There's a convenience store/diner that sees a lot of traffic, and then the small grocery store.

The city-run shelter in our closest "big town" won't put pics or descriptions of pits on their website, just sex and age. And you can walk through and view their "hold" dogs if you e lost one, except pits. You have to fill out a form with age, sex, color, markings, and other identifiers, then an employee checks the dogs for you.

We don't really have a vet... We use the traveling clinic for vacs and meds.

Me too. Luckily I know my DH; sometimes I get these "deadlines" but he very rarely has actually followed through. Even strays that we can't rehome he waffles on. "Are you sure? We can wait. Is this the right decision?" So as long as it looks like we're making progress, he'll be ok. he's such a softie.
