Red, they are so nasty looking. Their belly's are dragging on the ground. Feathers all rubbed off on their underside. It might be different if they freeranged a bit, but just kept in a coop all the time is a disgusting process.
Guess I didn't think of it that way. You wouldn't want to free range to keep the weight on I'd think? And my chickens do get out about everyday. Do they eat a certain diet too?

Hubby, BIL

:bow

I saw someone used that plastic net fencing stuff for them to get off the ground, so they dont get all bare
I was new to the process this year, but hubs & BIL had quiet a system. I was literally running in the coop grabbing birds & hooking their feet to the tree. Hubs would take the head off, let the bleed out, then in the scalder. I ran the plucker & pulled off any additional feathers that were missed. BIL pulled all the guts & stuff out. I was exhausted, I was either running or picking feathers. Thank goodness they taste so good. Can't wait to bake one again when I get my stove.

what makes them nastier then any other chicken? I'm really clueless.

Looks tastey.

They chit, ALOT

More than you would think, since they grow so dern quick.

Would be ok to range them, as long as theyre locked up at night of course.

Wouldnt be so bad then.

I can't wait

And they're crazy lazy. I've heard they have to put feed in one part of the run and water in the other, just so they have to walk.

Wow y'all must have plenty of chicken now. How much do you think it saves per year?
