You don't really save money, they are like having chickens for eggs. You do it because they taste better than the store bought birds & you know how they're living before you eat them.
They will eat every minute of every day if you let them. Their hearts literally explode if food isn't regulated. Plus their legs break.Good Lord really? Even at night they'd eat?High protein feed & lots of it. We butchered at 8 weeks old. Hens were 5-6# & roo's 8-10 #'s. Can't even fathom how they can get that big so fast. You do have to take their feed up for night or they will eat themselves to death, no joking
