You don't really save money, they are like having chickens for eggs. You do it because they taste better than the store bought birds

People i got mines from, I traded them some Raw milk fer. LOL

They get thier feed custom milled and save A TON
That's the way to do it. My BIL farms & he knows the system well with TSC. He as always manages to get the meat birds for a quarter to 50 cents. Because he works right close to the store he checks in often. The workers get tired with dealing with the birds as a get a little bigger. Most people are wanting day old chicks. So he will go in & offer to take 25-50 older chicks off their hands for a song. He's pulled it off every year. So he's the man!!

so it could be toned down a little ?

Oh and granny it can be toned down

Depending on how much ya feed em
Yep you can feed them less, they just won't get to weight as soon. I think it would be much healthier to slow them down a bit, but I'm not the one raising them. If I raised them here I would try that approach.

Its worth it

If you can get locally milled feed fer cheap, even better by the barrell
I don't have a local mill that I know of. I still wanna do it though.

had a bantam cornish once wide breast, friendly thing. I was very sad when I found out what it was because I thought it would die soon. It just kept doing its thing and I kept waiting . LOL

Still waiting?

This is the most important part.

Its not right to be in a barn and never see sunshine, or feel grass
X2 even if you process them, they at least had a good life and got to be chickens instead of living side by side nose to tail in a building with no sun and grass.
