I spanked both my kids and I have to say, I dont agree with it anymore.  maybe something light on the hand when they are 2-3 just to get their attention and teach them the word no but not even that if it could be avoided.

I still truly believe that a couple good hard swats to the back side is the way to go.  LOOK at all the monsters growing up with no discipline ,manners, or respect for anyone ,anything including themselves.

Depends on the kid, and I've got one of each. DD will put herself in her room and sob on her bed when she's done wrong. DS doesn't give a rip. Spakings, time outs, whatevs. He doesn't want to be in trouble (will fib or hide for mischief) but he's not scared of a punishment.

morning York, your blue splash looks simular to the one I was trying to desribe but I have some gold in mine as well.
Camping, Robert punishes himself when he does wrong. He will put himself in time out.

Poor shoeless Joe. Or all the hens have better track shoes for running away. Or nail him with their stilettos.

Here's the tricky part. If both parents have 1 white & 1 blue, and if each parent gives darling daughter chickie a white gene, she will never lay a blue or green egg. How much brown her egg has, if any, will be determined on what types of treads (brown genes) she got. This is why many hatchery EEs will lay brown eggs. If a breeder is careful and keeps only chickens with 2 blue genes (2 blue laces), 100% of their offspring will also have both genes for blue shells. Yay! The green/brown is a whole other issue! Check the treads!

I forgot to say what was tricky about this part. The shell color of the hatching egg is all about the mother's genes. It will not automatically mean the chick will have the same genes. You can hatch a blue layer from a white egg, and green layers can hatch from brown. And a chick hatching from a blue or green egg might lay white or brown eggs. The the color of the egg a chick hatches from only tells half of the story.

Morning :frow

The blue splash had to go as all the chicks from him were blue, just too many. A nice lady down the road took him in so he got a good home.

Wattles! Brb. They're only two weeks, but sometimes you can just tell, y'know? It took ten minutes to decide which comb was biggest.

Edit: I'm standing by the colors, for now. Darkest inky chicks had thin wattles peeking out. Charcoal gray chicks only had fuzz.

I missed ya, bet your little is half grown now. leg all healed up ? Still got your guineas ? I brag on you and taming them. Your the only one I know that walks around with one on your shoulder. I am doing ok for what I got to work with. LOL I have found tons of friends here that feel more like family to me. Matter of fact I would be offended if they didnt think so. I get to talk a little smack, flirt a little learn but not much. . You remember Twisted-acres-farms ? He was on cheyens thread and is here now. We are lovers. He made me dinner and boy was it good. He makes me fudge and cookies too. Haahahaa teasing , he lives in ND well, he does make me food and sweets. and I love it so.. The rest of it is just fantasy. My birthday just past and everyone one here made it so special for me. cards, gifts, candys, cookies and cold hard cash. LOL was nice hearing from you and hope to talk again, Ol Lady !
Leg is as healed as it's going to get...still issues but much better. Due to that we didn't really hatch anything last year, just the random duck and chicken smart enough to set in the coop. :)
Still have our guineas of course! We love our little "blue headed freaks". And chickens, ducks etc. Still have my chukars, pheasants and quail too.
Sounds like you found some good friends and someone to feed you! Doesn't get any better than that! Yes I do remember Twisted :D
Sorry I missed your birthday (holy you must be ancient now!), but you missed mine so we're even! Daughter just turned a whopping 10 yrs last month...of course she now thinks she's smarter than I am and acts like she's turning 20! Have you heard from Cheyan? Wonder how she's doing too.
I will try to do better and come on more often to harass you!
