Think I'll take a nap. Kinda down today and don't know why. Maybe I'll snap outta it after a nap. Hope y'all have a wonderful day. :hugs too all.

Because 99 is too low?

Well Sally has 90+ percent hatches and she says she does not let hers touch the 99 range
HAS TO BE CALIBRATED AND ACCURATE OR ELSE

morning Loko. do you have any problems hatching quail with chickens ?

Nope.
I put em in containers though
LoKo, tell me about leaving the plugs in. I have heard that some do it for like the first 10 days, then remove them for the remainder of the hatch. Does it make a difference in the hatch?? I know, probably stepping in it big time at Sally's house with that comment. I've got some reading I need to do before the EHAL hatch, but would love to hear your opinion.

It works by lowering the oxygen/dioxide level inside the bator.
It causes them to "fight" harder to live/develop,resulting in stronger chicks.
There have been multiple studies on this and I say it works.

It does NOT hurt them, but after the 10 days is up, this is when the bird starts to advance more rapidly so far as development goes. Thus the need for more oxygen.
You also have to watch the temps after the 10 days (or 12ish) because as the chicks develop more/grow larger, they produce more body heat. Which can spike yer bator!
Not so much of a problem if using an automated heat controller, like a Genesis etc.
If you are using a wafer or similar it's very important

Some also swear by leaving bator open fer 10-15 minutes per day.
Same principle
They have to fight harder
Momma does leave the nest to chit sometimes
ALOT of bator manufacturers are actually incorporating a cool down cycle
I'ma believer!

So camping it doesn't hurt ,IMO, to candle them with the frequency that you do.
Cause I know yer methodical with it, and not careless
