Morning y'all. About to head over to the coop!

it's stressful to watch... Lots of hurry up and wait. The nomad isn't putting the boards up the same way I would, and I think my way looks better. He's leaving big gaps between the boards to keep everything level. That's probably the proper carpentry way. I'm still trying to make it a quilt.

But that's ok. I'm learning a lot for the day that I build something for myself.

any chance of using the same boards for a cut out ? Like a big star put on the coop like inlay and stained the  purple ?

That's too fancy. Any gap bigger than 1/4" they take a scrap and nail it from the inside. One of the chinks I found a scrap that almost exactly fit. I said to just glue it down in there. The guy said he'd rather cut a notch out of a board. That doesn't make sense to me! Then there are TWO weird little scraps!

I think it would have worked better to put up plywood, then patchwork the boards on top of that. Maybe. I don't know.

well sure but plywood is very expensive .

glue wouldnt hold for long . I THINK you could put plastic barrier up from inside then cover with chip or partial board and even insulation to keep it some cooler in there when your heat comes.

I think the gaps will help with airflow this summer. It's too humid to seal it up like that. It's under the pines, too, so good shade. I'm thinking about saving feed sacks to staple up when it turns back cool next fall.

one sheet of plywood cut into the star and the pallet butted up to it wouldnt be bad. half sheet what ever fits ....
