Get your self a few RIR roosters and some BR hens from a hatchery and raise your own Black sex links. I promise you that you will not be sorry. I have raised many of them. Great feed conversion, great layers of good sized eggs and lay nearly as well their second laying season.

You can use any barred hen, Dominiques, Marans, barred Leghorns, Hollands even Silver Laced wyandottes.

But, for egg producing abilities, you will find it hard to beat Barred Rocks.

I got a 10 gallon stock pot just set up outside, and take 10lbs of ground round and 10lbs of speghetti tellem to bring bread and salad and drinks TADA !!!!!
