Thanks camp. I looked it up on another thread. Your right. Its nothing like I thought. I'd love to have some heritage breeds but I'm also happy with my hatchery birds. I was just curious about it. Looks like there's been some heated discussions over heritage breeds. I think I'll just pick chickens I like and if the turn out to be heritage then that will be fine. I love em no matter what they are. Heck when I get chickens I come on here to ask y'all what they are anyway lol.
Camping you have some hrir don't you? If so send me a pm and let me know if you sell hatching eggs and how much.

Me too camping.

I'm not selling eggs right now because they're mixed with the layers and the EE roo. I plan on separating them later on, after I figure out what to do with the guineas. Right now all my pens are full.

But y'all will be the first to know! :love

I was going to take pics when I went out, but I got distracted by the obscene amount of mosquitoes out there. The chickens and goats wouldn't go forage because of it. I sprayed the goats and took them out, and the chickens followed.

It's an ugly fix, but I found that sheet of fiberglass?? or whatever it is on the highway, and screwed it over the water support. Hoping that keeps them from pooping on/around the waterer.

Quote: Who likes acidity? The pines make it pretty acidic to begin with. That's why the azaleas do so well. I don't know if they would've leached it all out, though.

Over by the pool the grass is always super lush and green, so I guess it's happy. I thought about taking soil samples to the extension office, then I forgot.

Blueberries like acidic soil. But the chickens will clean you out if they have access, like Jane said.

I hope you're not joking, because I totally will. I think I need to be NPIP to ship out of state, but I was planning to do that anyway. :D

DH took bubba to town with him for discgolf, haircuts, and groceries. I'm taking a long lunch, then going to plant my berry bushes. I'm thinking blueberries on each corner of the coop, and black berries on the outside corners of the fence. I have five blue berry plants, two black berry plants, and three raspberries. Suggestions for everything else? The garden beds are over by the pool, which gets like 10 hours of sunlight a day.
Do you have to amend the soil, to get it more acidic?

I plan to put everything on "my" side of the fence. Some for them, some for me. I haven't noticed my goatlings eating poison ivy, or the wild blackberry brambles. Is that because they're babies? The poison ivy and briars are coming up in my back yard, most around the ankles but some waist high already. I'm going to push to keep the nanny back there til she kids, and she can eat that stuff down. :fl Edit: I meant that second part for the house. I just get lazy posting sometimes. :weee
