heart attack, broken legs or hips internal organs give out.

Wish I had never seen them. its enough to turn you away from chicken. I have never held them petted , ect.. but I reach in there to feed and they come running to cuddle under my arm and pick on the buttons of my coat sleeve. I have never had one so sweet. They keep their eyes on me and every move I make begging for attention. What am I supposed to do with that ?

Just the two of us going!

He CAN and WILL pack his own, but he doesn't do it RIGHT and that stresses me out. Then he wants me to unwrinkle his clothes.

. So usually he picks out his clothes then I pack them.
Ohhhhhh, you will be in heaven! I love my kids, no regrets, want to be around them, but sometimes it is so nice to be just me for a while, and not mom. You and your hubs will feel like yourselves again for a week. (Maybe a little less because you will spend a day or two getting used to not having to think of the kids.) Eat adult food, enjoy adult beverages, do adult activities! You will returned rejuvenated and be all the happier to see your precious darlings. Enjoy yourselves to the hilt! And no regrets. They will be fine, they will survive. hey hey!

Enjoy!!

And I know you told us this and how long you'd be gone... what can I say... sucks getting old!

We took the boys on a cruise a couple years ago to Alaska and Glacier Bay.

All 4 of us crammed into one cabin.

That fold out orange chair was the 4th bed. A very tight squeeze!

And a week of no privacy. We had fun, but 2 cabins would have been better.

@Tippylou I took care of my granny the last 5 years of her life she had dementia and didn't really know who I was some days and I would get so frustrated that I yelled at her. No often but more than once . I wouldn't much more than get her cleaned up from her incontinence till she was soiling herself again now having said that you have earned yourself a crown of glory for taking such good care of your friend all those years. So I pray you have the peace that passes all understanding, the oil of joy for the ashes of mourning and that everything you put your hands too are blessed, and that the Lord rest you in this time of loss of your friend and companion. And that He gives you a new friend for all that love you have for your babies . In Jesus name amen

I don't know what to say. But I bet you don't buy them again. But most of the chicken you buy in the stores is the same breed and they are just raised indoors, At least your'S will have a good life for the 8 weeks they are on god's green earth.

You think I should just give up and play with them and let them die on their own ? restrict their food some maybe ?

I am in a fix with these meat chickens. I wanted to try them, got 2 about a week apart from each other and I regret ever buying one. They are the sweetist most gentle birds I have ever seen and I dont know if I will be able to clean them or not.

I had a cockerel that fell off the chicken truck on the way to be slaughtered. He was just laying in the middle of the highway. Many of his cage mates were dead. I had to teach him how to walk and eat and drink properly since he lived crammed in with others in a tiny cage with no movement. I didn't even know what a meat bird was back then. Can't remember how long he lived, but his legs gave out and I had him euthanized. Your chicks are having a wonderful life compared to my poor Frank. They are not designed to live long, so just help them have the best time for the short while they are here. And eat them and be grateful. Don't let their lives be wasted.
